That's James Bond's gun.

I'd still prefer to carry an Officer's Model .45 cal ACP or a SIG in .40 cal S&W (pocket rocket)

    I like big holes.

I'd do it for my dad. No questions asked.

Perhaps the hospital should have released the man, as he REPEATEDLY ASKED THEM TO DO, and he could have taken care of his business in his home, then all those fainting hearts would not have been "traumatized". As for all those "traumatized" patients, fuck them.

And yes, I would have done it too.

Therein lies the true depths of our culture of death, another symptom of the moral decay of our society into a nightmarish hell. No hesitations, no nagging conscience, no thought about the eternal consequences by either of you. At least this young man admitted it would always bother him that he gave his father the instrumemt of his own death, at least he still had some consciousness of the gravity of his act, not you two. Even the father in his note understood the selfishness and cowardice of his final act in life.

This too betrays a terribly seared conscience on your part, no thought at all for how this grave and violent act impacted others, it would be just pure selfishness coming and going on your part and that of your father in a similar situation. In a life and death situation, at the hospital or even in combat or some other situation, you seem to only care about you. I would hate to be in a foxhole beside you!
If assisted suicide is a crime, as I believe it absolutely must be in any civilized society, the young man broke the law and must suffer the full penalty, for his being an accessory to self-murder.
The son violated no one's rights and detracted from no one's happiness.

You feel he acted immorally and should be punished. Fortunately, we live in a somewhat free society.

He was an accessory to self murder and broke existing law against assisted suicide, doesn't that make him a criminal in your world? Didn't he violate the rights of other patient's that were exposed to this violent self murder?

That man who gave his father the gun is as much a criminal as people who preach Christianity in Saudi Arabia.
