Say Anything: Record Ron Paul Contributions Made With Stolen Credit Cards

• Curtis · 2 years ago
Wow, there were a dozen or so test runs of $5, amounting to about $60.
• Stephanie · 2 years ago
Um, this isn't an uncommon thing for credit card thieves to do and it amounts to like 60.00, he raised 4.3 million. not even a blip of an issue, and they were test runs not people stealing to contribute.

oh, and i'm not even a paul supporter, but this story is just dumb.

Why is this not an issue?

All of this "Ron Paul Support" is nothing more that a left wing attempt to create a 3rd party candidate and split the conservative vote in the general election.

Why do you think that Ron Paul has so many "supporters" at places like the Iowa Straw Poll and then he loses so badly in the vote? Because all of his "supporters" aren't Republicans and could not vote.

This whole Ron Paul thing is just a conspiracy by MoveOn.org/Kos to stir up trouble.
• Texas Little El · 2 years ago
Lets see, someone steals 500 credit cards from Frost Bank, uses the Ron Paul website since there is instant feedback when confirming donations, donates $5.00 to test the card and Ron Paul and the campaign are at fault.

This is 7/10000th of one percent of the money he took in that day. Yup, Ron Paul truly benefited from those stolen cards.

This was a truly well thought out hit piece.
This is 7/10000th of one percent of the money he took in that day.
Do you have a crystal ball, Texas little brain? Because I still don't know how many "hundreds" of what the Paul campaign says could be hundreds of contributions there are. And yet you, smart as a whip, calculate it out without the benefit of having all the facts! Good job! /sarcasm

By the way, Tex, you and Stepahnie should get your stories straight! Is this "they do it all the time" or is this "He took a smaller percentage of stolen money than Al Gore got from the monks"?
I really want to know what the correct talking points are!
• CaneCat5 · 2 years ago
You really should add some subtance to this. ALL collections of this nature suffer from the same thing, including the Red Cross, Salvation Army and others.

It is a very common practice. I can not see where it is even worth metioning, but if you do, you should point out it goes on in almost every group that takes donations
• disinter · 2 years ago
Yep, some theives committed a crime. Ron Paul's campaign returned the money.

Are you desperate for dirt (that doesn't exist) or what?
• Texas Little El · 2 years ago
You truly must be hard up for people to visit your blog to lame troll this way, Rob. Trolling your own website.....<shakes head>

I hope the quick rush of excitement of having a some people coming here gives you that needed fix for the day.

As for the differences in numbers, you will find one story says $60 in charges, another says $3000 that was refunded in total. An investigative reporter you will never be, Rob.
• Nell · 2 years ago
Criminals making donations to test stolen credit cards is a very common problem. Many online donation campaigns have been hit by this. Usually they will only donate $5 or $10. They don't want to make it too much, or the card might be cancelled before they even get started.

Anyway, in the article below the Ron Paul campaign said they had $3000 in bogus charges. Out of $7.5 million, that is 0.04%. It's not a large amount of money, but it is a hassle for the campaign staff to deal with this crap. Also there is an article from last July about the Red Cross and others getting hit with the same thing.
Are you desperate for dirt (that doesn't exist) or what?
Funny! Nell posts a link to a story about credit card fraud and the Red Cross. Were they so desperate for dirt (that apparently does exist) that they would write a story about it? It's N - E - W - S!
There was a story in the news (stop me if I'm going to fast for y'all!) about credit card thieves...(y'all still with me?)...who contributed stolen money... (wait for it!) to a Presidential campaign (Ron Paul's!).

As far as I can tell, this is the first time this has happened! Making it ...newsworthy!

Maybe it would help, if I made it Foxworthy!
If you contribute to a Presidential campaign with stolen credit cards...you might be a redneck!
The "man of integrity" sure has a lot of dishonest supporters.

Any talk of the dishonesty of his supporters is considered a "hit piece". Ron Paul supporters don't like the mirror. It reflects back something ugly and vile. Much better to divert the conversation onto the "man of integrity" himself and ignore what his supporters are doing in his name.

Ron Paul = SPAM & DIRTY TRICKS.

And Proof, not to mention this:
you should point out it goes on in almost every group that takes donations
has been stated damned-near verbatim by 3-4 of the Paulbots. I think they're getting their programming done by an experienced cult figure.

None has offered proof (ha!...a pun!) of the frquency claimed, nor indeed, proof of *anything*...just wild-assed assertions that all sound the same. There's some sock puppets here, or collusion to cover up.
• likwidshoe · 2 years ago
Texas Little El - I hope the quick rush of excitement of having a some people coming here gives you that needed fix for the day.

Please. Some of you Ron Paul supporters think waaaay too much of yourself. You guys don't affect the site numbers that much. You are, how shall I put this - ultimately irrelevant.

Chew on that one for awhile.

Although I have just briefly looked in to this, it appears that there were 500 credit cards stolen from Frost Bank, which was the only source to this contributing fraud. For what ever reason all? Frost Bank credit cards could only donate to the Ron Paul's campaign by means of PAYPAL?

Most if not all? of the fraudulent contributers where used to contribute to the Ron Paul campaign from overseas as test runs?

Although from what I gathered from my little investigation here, this type of contribution fraud is not uncommon except that usually it's a view large amounts of money, compared to a large amount of little money?

So what should we make of all this? was it done intensionally to degrade Ron Paul's campaign? are if so 500 Ron Paul supporters thieves that live overseas who have an account with Frost Bank in the United States?

Maybe more facts will come out, but some damage was definitely done, I do hope that if at all any other candidate's contributions that were a victim of this crime will be known.

But I wouldn't count the eggs before they hatch, besides the real truth may never be known.
