Say Anything: Michael Moore Owns Stock In Haliburton

  • Chad Evans · 4 years ago
I don't blame him. Since Clinton awarded Haliburton their first no-bid contract in Bosnia, it's been a good company to invest in.
  • Thatedeguy · 4 years ago
Is it possible that that is a forgery?
  • bullwinkle · 4 years ago
Oh yeah? It performed under the Dow until oil prices shot up this year. I know how liberals just love to shoot off their mouths about things they have no idea about, but that infamous no-bid contract wasn't very profitable. Try using facts instead instead of liberal talking points, you'll appear to be a lot less dishonest. We'll still know you are, you're a liberal..
  • Chad Evans · 4 years ago
Heh. I'm no Liberal, but thanks for the comment. Haliburton has perfomed well since Bosnia. Your graph only shows the past five years. Bosnia was before that time period. I'm not saying it's "the stock" to purchase by any means, but it has shown steady increase up until the time period which you refer with the oil. After that though, it has increased.

As far as Moore owning it, yes, he's a hypocrit, but should that really surprise anyone?
  • Brandon · 4 years ago
I think Chad's point was everytime Halliburton is awarded a No-Bid contract by (sarcasm on) Chimpy McBushhalliburton (sarcasm off), the left winds itself into a hissy fit by claiming this is some kind of a conspiracy to further line Dick Cheney's pockets since he used to be the CEO of that company.

If that's the sole reason for them being granted no-bid status, how do you explain the decision by the Clinton Administration to grant them a no-bid status for work done in Bosnia?

[...] HAHA! WND - "I don't own a single share of stock!" filmmaker Michael Moore proudly proclaimed. [...]
  • keep it simple · 4 years ago
if that's true, that's comedy. It's like rush and his pill poppin, cept worse. I bet his company has the stock or sumpin, but all the same...if you make millions in this country I bet it's close to humanly impossible not to have hand in a fortune 500 company somehow.

Just a question but how would anyone else have a copy of his sched D?
  • Ace of Spades HQ · 4 years ago
? So it would appear, despite his strong denials. Update: I guess we should have seen this coming. It's as predictable as white people dynamiting levees to flood black neighborhoods. Like clockwork, in other words. Thanks to John for that.

    Brandon:

Here's how. Halliburton hired Cheney as CEO because of his high-level political connections and his executive knowledge of the intracacies of defense contracting after being Secretary of Defense. It was through Cheney and his past experience in government that Halliburton was able to secure the position as the sole, no-bid contractor for various services for the military.

Now, there's nothing really wrong with that, it's just how things work in the military-industrial complex. Lots of generals are rewarded with positions on defense company boards in return for greasing the procurement process both while in uniform and out. And securing the contracts for services that will be needed in the unforseeable future streamlines the response and flexibility of the US government in deploying troops to foreign emergencies. Time isn't wasted in a bidding process. I'm sure the terms of what Halliburton is allowed to profit from these bids were agreed to in the agreement.

Anyway, just wanted to point out Dick Cheney had everything with Halliburton getting those no-bid contracts under Clinton. But also want to stress there's nothing particularly sinister. If Cheney cleaned up from his work, it's because there are only so many people in the country with the experience and connections to get HAL that huge government business over its competitors.

The history of Halliburton and the feds goes back to the late 30's when they won a government contract to build the Mansfield Dam with the help of LBJ - Long before Cheney was even born.

Halliburton had the same controversy during Veitnam. Here is some history on it:

    You people will believe anything.
Yes there is a Guy named Micheal Moore that own Halliburton stock.

    Don't you mean Michael?

unfortunately for your misinformation campaign it is not the same Micheal Moore that you are talking about.

This story has already been retracted on page 13.

    Link?

    Typical neo-con corporatist tactic.

    What?

By the way, not one of you know anything about being a Conservative or a republican. Your support of this reckless moron in office is ample proof of that.

Well that is a wonderful argument.

The next thing you know the lefties will be denying that George Soros owns Halliburton stock too. LMAO. The truth sure hurts when your ideology is based on dishonesty. It's gotta suck to blindly follow such a hypocrite and then find out how foolish you are.
  • xnerd · 4 years ago
    Well..

He made a statement on CSPAN.
I listen to KLAR and even Michael Medved made the statement that it turned out to be untrue.

The man went on TV and said again that he has never owned any stock what so ever and defies anyone to show otherwise.

I haven't looked for a source on the net but the guy would have to be insane to make this statement if he couldn't back it up
  • Rob · 4 years ago
Sorry xnerd, unless you've got something better than this I'm going to go with the assumption that Moore owns Haliburton stock and you just wish he didn't.

Folks, to say that you've got Micheal Moores SIGNED Schedule D is total impossible. First, Form 1040 Schedule D is not a signed form. So it is IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU to have a signed Schedule D.

Secondm Schedule D is NOT a record of holdings it is a record of SALES. If you hold a stock from January to December of any year that stock WILL NEVER show up on Schedule D.

Ok, for the slow freepers out there who don't own stock and have never done their taxes let me repeat. Stocks ONLY show up on Schedule D when they are SOLD. Only 1040 Schedule A gets a tax payers signature.

Therefore, it is impossible for this form to be legitimate. It's not a matter of opinion it's not possible that you could find a signed Schdule D showing anyone holdings of any stock at any time. All you see on a Schedule D are sales and never over a signature.

Go to your local Post Office and check for yourself.
  • Mavrik · 3 years ago
I don't know where you guys are getting this "Schedule D" thing from. I have Peter Schweizer's book "Do As I Say (Not As I Do)" and the form that he includes on the back cover of his book is Form 990PF, which is the form he and his wife had to file with the IRS to set up a tax shelter. I've heard other people speculate that another "Michael Moore" is involved but unless this "other" MIchael Moore set up a tax shelter and registered at Michael Moore's (the film maker) address in Michigan, I highly doubt it! Michael Moore is a lying scumbag and that my friends, is what it is.
