    What was he thinking? He should have just fed the dogs slaughtered cow like normal people.

    What a joke. The guy who comments around here who calls himself Dave has a point about the hypocrisy.

    A few months ago I learned the sad truth about Dog and Cat food we all have been purchasing for years. During the recall of hundreds of different dog and cat foods I learned hundreds popular Name Brand pet foods are made of dead zoo animals and euthanized pets. It is making our beloved pets sick and sending them to an early death. AND the sad thing about it is there is supposedly some loop hole that allows these companies to not have to reveal the content. It makes me so sad because I lost my precious golden retriever Wilbur to cancer. My husband keeps saying it probably isn't true. BUT I beilieve it. I have a new golden retriever puppy (Forbes E. Franklin) I am doing everything I can to protect him from the same fate as my beloved Wilbur!

    it's part of our civilized normalcy not to be cruel to animals that are considered pets.
    But, it's OK for the cat to chase and toy with a mouse or a gecko, slowly maiming the creature for sport before finally ingesting it? It's OK to feed live mice and rats to pet snakes, but not live cats to dogs?

    There is no doubt that Mr. Hilmo is quite disturbed. I don't condone his injuring the cats and watching his dogs maul them for fun. But I am also concerned for those of you who think cats and/or dogs (or horses or rabbits, et cetera) should have the same status in law or morals as humans.

    kbiel, no it's not normal and I never said it was. BUT, having the dirty little disease carrying, crap dropping rodents infesting my home is a larger degree from normalcy or safety to justify my cat eating a mouse.
    Also for your information, I can't even begin to count how many times I have rescued a mouse from the jaws of my cats ... so don't be thinking I am an inhumane monster.

Scraps from the table were the staple for dogs and cats for millenium [well at least for dogs, cats were expected to satisfy their hunger on rodents and other creatures]. This idea that human food is not good enough for their pets is one of the bizarre beliefs that has infected our world today.

    As I understand it, eating cat flesh can be hazardous. It probably wouldn't be the best choice for feeding a dog, and might rightfully be considered inhumane to the dog. I would recommend homeless tramp as a better choice.

    I didn't read (I refused to) the article but I would think since, dogs can't digest or cough up fur balls, this is an extremely unhealthy diet for the dog.

    No way. Human food is too fattening and unhealthy for your loved pets. Don't do it if you can help it.

    If you really want your little pet to be healthy and have the best food and can afford it, buy the scientifically engineered stuff that costs a bit more than the regular stuff. They will shit less because they will eat less, it will be less smelly when they do shit, and they will have healthier shinier coats. They only put in what the animals actually need and what they can naturally digest.

    "WETBACK" = end your code with /img instead of the /url you used and you'll be all good to embed images. Actually, go here to see all of the vBulletin codes. You also have to close the opening.

    This website also accepts html. Learn that simple language and you're good for most of the Internet.

    I'll also add: don't "hotlink". Image services now allow you to upload pics so that you can display them wherever you please (such as the Webshots' AllYouCanUpload service recommended here). They explicitly allow hotlinking. It's their service. Stick to these services when you want to display a picture here.

    493 looks to be an excellent width for these fixed forums. Anything more than that and the picture goes over the fixed border and makes everything look all screwy.

    I feed my pups salad, fruits, and veggies. Scruff Dog loves tomatoes. Heidi loves cantaloupe. I asked the vet about the animal byproducts on the list of ingredients in dry dog food. She said it means chicken feet and stuff that is good for dogs but not for people. I feed Science Diet but it also lists "animal byproducts." I use it only because the vet recommended it. But the byproducts bother me.

    I guess it takes a really hard person to feed his pit bulls live kittens and cats. While babysitting an Oscar fish once, I nearly passed out when I had to feed him live fish. Yuk!! I guess the part that bothers me is he threw them in live and let the dogs kill them.

    Commercial dog food wasn't even widely used until the 40's and even then people living through the depression didn't fancy spending money to buy food for the animals. Table scrapes and whatever unlucky varmint walked in the path of a dog was what they survived off.
    Now we spend 100's of dollars on what our dogs eat ... and I am one of the guilty.
    LOL, I will admit the only reason I went with a high priced food was for the fact it produces less doggy waste.
