Say Anything: Interesting: Confidence In Obama Is Plummeting, But Confidence In Republicans Isn't Rising

  • robert108 · 3 months ago
It's all about conservatives, Rob; the RINOs have emasculated the Republican Party by being afraid to contrast themselves with the Dems. Appeasement hurts us, it doesn't help us.
Meaning that next year's elections are going to be really, really bad for incumbents.
As it should be!!

The problem is this, IMO, the Republicans have not presented a unified alternative plan to rescue the health care insurance problems, a better GOP Health Care Plan that is clear, easy to understand and that the peoiple will have confidence that it has a realistic chance to solve the situation. Just carping about the problems's with Obama's plan will not result in confidence in the GOP!

I think the poll shows that the citizens just don't trust the "public servants" at all regardless of party.

    This is a good thing.

Fire em all and start over.

Nobody likes the doctor that says: "sorry, your parents fed you such crap over 8 years that your tubes are all jammed up and you are unhealthy". "You are going to have to have a colonoscopy and start eating some vegitables".

Americans are suffering from shock of going from a President who didn't do anything to an over achiever.
  • badlands4 · 3 months ago
Like many Independents, I got sick of both parties, so left. Don't trust either party.
  • DINO · 3 months ago
Plummet? I think not. His overall approval is still above 50%. Comparing him to bush with his 22% is ludicrous.

People aren't happy, that's for sure. But don't think for a minute that they'll vote out their reps or forget what republicans gave us in terms of economic devastation.

Until you people come up with any ideas besides more of the same crap that nearly destroyed us, you're the party of negativity.

Besides, market up again, recovery looking more likely. By Nov 2010 people will be remembering who got them out of the republican mess.

And who gave them universal, affordable health care.

You people will be out for generations.
  • James Raider · 3 months ago
Confidence, real confidence, will return when taxpayers see some real action to clean up the mess.

Bernanke had the gall to threaten Congress and the American people with economic destruction. Get this arrogance out of the Fed, ... just for a start.

The Kings of Wall Street have long coveted the absolute supremacy they now enjoy over the largest economy in the world. The debt is a problem, but vast change is necessary throughout the banking system. A radical change is needed on Wall Street.

It starts with the taxpayer's attitude adjustment.

Yea Bush did nothing: NCLB, Medicare D, Iraq and Afghanistan, TARP, etc.

This is such a load of manure that no intelligent or honest person would peddle it.
Plummet? I think not. His overall approval is still above 50%. Comparing him to bush with his 22% is ludicrous.
Comparing times in office between Bush and Lord Obama is the only way to putr this in perspective. With that measurement, Obama did plummet!
Until you people come up with any ideas besides more of the same crap that nearly destroyed us, you're the party of negativity.
Sorry, but Dino is right to a degre! Not that Bush's policies nearly destroyed us, that is nonsense and borders on lunacy; but that the GOP needs ideas, they need to be unified in presenting better plans as in the Ginrich Revolution to make big change (The GOP will gain some seats) in next year's elections.
Besides, market up again, recovery looking more likely. By Nov 2010 people will be remembering who got them out of the republican mess.
Again Dino is not altogether wrong. If the economy seems on the way to recovery and the Democrats can hide the long term, devastating debt; the perception of the people is what is important and inproved economic indicators can keep the Dimwit Party in power.

What about generations? No way Jose! The crippling debt bill will come due and when it does the Democrats will lose control of everything until as usual we clean up the mess.
.....In 8 years...........sigh.
No admission of error. And of course, those aren't his only accomplishments (nor are all of them good). But all of them are massive. Iraq and Afghanistan were two huge endevors. Medicare D is a new perminent medical program, and NCLB is a massive expansion of federal control over education.

    Disingenuous at best...
Obama has almost done more in only 8 months.
Aside from the absurdity of that, as Obama has only passed two major bills, and no real lasting programs, just irresponsible spending. Only if we count dollars, has Obama "almost done that much", and that's hardly a good thing.
And Iraq isn't anything to boast about....Afghanistan is still a disaster....he never finished the job, and he had to do it.
It wasn't by choice he went there....he abandoned the gig.
Ignoring that he never "abandoned the gig", this too is moving the goal posts. "He did nothing." He did plenty. "Well, fine, but he did it all poorly" Even if that's correct, that's a completely different claim than "he did nothing".
Where did Dino express concern about sending troops to Afghanistan???? I didn't see it.
Obama is right to correct the unfinished business Bush left behind there, shamefully I might add.
How moronic. Vietnam last over multiple Presidents. Was it shameful that they didn't withdraw the troops on the last day of their administration too?
The has worked harder than you ever have, or ever will. He's 1000 times smarter than you and your racial nonsense puts your comments in perfect perspective.
    You creep!
That's all the hugest load of horsecrap ever.

Not only does Obama speak often in "racial nonsense", but even by his account, he's never known a hard day's work in his life. During his time as a community organizer, time that he flouts, other organizers talk about how rarely he showed up, and how little work he put into his cases. Teaching ACORN workers to be, quite frankly, shit disturbers is nothing special either. Finally, when he went to work at his law firm, he hardly had a demanding case load, as even his books attest to. And not only has he never been much of a politician, he never had to run a real race til last year.

And judging by his writings, his speaking ability, and his consistancy , his intelligence is nothing to boast about either.

The only thing Bush did that we will remember is invade Iraq, fight back in Afghanistan and TARP.

I used an expression. It wasn't meant to be taken literally.

Half the things Kenny mentioned were just reactionary measures that needed to be done. The only thing Bush did proactively that matters is Iraq, and that is not anything to boast about.

It's turning out that their government power grabs were an abuse to American citizens and they abused power for political reasons.

Obama's efforts are meaningful. Giving us a successful health care reform bill will be a huge milestone in Amerian history.

Republicans only want to refuse that victory to Obama, nothing more. That's why they lie, instead of offering a counter proposal.
  • Kenny · 3 months ago
Half the things Kenny mentioned were just reactionary measures that needed to be done. The only thing Bush did proactively that matters is Iraq, and that is not anything to boast about.
So government leaders are supposed to address things that aren't a problem? The new critiques just keep getting more inane as the old ones get shot down. And where is the similar criticism of Obama? All of his stuff is reactionary too. Eye roll.
It's turning out that their government power grabs were an abuse to American citizens and they abused power for political reasons.
Again, Obama much? Where is the criticism of the Democrats that went along with it? Nonexistant you say?
Republicans only want to refuse that victory to Obama, nothing more. That's why they lie, instead of offering a counter proposal.
Again, the double standard! "We don't need to give you a counter-proposal for your failed policies" was all the rage during the Iraq war. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, we need to come up with a better solution. And even if "nothing" is a better solution, that ain't good enough CHUMP.

One standard for liberals, another for everyone else.

You don't remember me complaining about government when bush was in power. I wasn't here.

The problem with government when republicans ruled during the past 30 years is the way they destroyed it from the inside much as a group of terrorists would do. They infiltrated and dismantled it, destroyed the peoples' confidence in government as a power of good. Then the bush years changed tactics by deliberately making government inept and antagonistic. This was followed by the perverse exploitation of the Treasury as bush and the republicans outsourced the government, emptying the coffers into the pockets of their friend on Wall Street and the corporate "contractor" worlds.

COnservatism has done major damage to this country much like a disease. They not only destroyed the government, they damaged our sense of community and created a coarse, ugly culture of selfishness and greed through their promotion of radical individualism.

Conservative Americans of recent times are awful people, the absolute worst subhumans to ever inhabit this planet.

"The only thing Bush did that we`ll remember is invade Iraq." I see, you`re forgetting the tax cuts that you talk so often about. Anyway, that`s a hell of a lot better than the taxes the Communist in Chief will try to raise on us. "Obama`s efforts are meaningful". Wow. So you made the eighth grade debate team? "Meaningful"- Is that like, wow, I`m in a meaningful relationship with a girl? But you`re right, no other President`s efforts have been meaningful, only Obamas. "It turns out that their government power grabs were an abuse to American citizens and they abused power for politcal reasons." If that`s not an over generalized statement, i don`t know what is. But of course, turning over about 20% of the total economy to the government thru health care isn`t a "government power grab." Ok. Due back on planet earth now.

I'm probably going to get pounded for this...but what kills me is how "everyone" thought Obama was the the one who would raise the country to new heights. Obama was the be all, end all. This would be the turning point in history - he would do the most amazing things ever seen and reform this country in ways we (mere mortals) could only dream. That seemed to be the consensus of the voting population.

I don't know how everyone expected this man to perform miracles - and honestly, that's what people seemed to think would happen. Of course they are now disappointed...Obama is just a man. Unless he's really good at hiding his wings.

I have to agree with navtechie. "Fire em all and start over." Dealing with newbies - who are in office because they truly care, have fresh ideas, and aren't already corrupted by the system (and their fellow representatives) - would have to be a gazillion times better than continuining with what (or those) we have now. Which, in the most simple terms, is a complete mess.

And btw, to those throwing arrows at Bush...have you considered that it takes time for things like the economy, to fall apart? I'm pretty sure the problems plaguing the country right now didn't just pop up over night. If you really think about it, I'm sure the building began to crack and crumble just a teeny bit before Bush took office. I'm pretty sure he [Bush] isn't powerful enough to kill the economy, etc all on his own...just like I'm pretty sure no one (not even the almighty Obama) can fix it on their own.

And I don't consider myself republican or democratic.

I got here in November, after the election. It just seems longer.

Prove that it was sooner, stem.

Maybe that's it. The stink of your disgusting shit breath is so fucking bad that the smell predated your arrival.

Oh well, I got one wrong. But seeing as to the worthlessness of the subject matter, it's like mistaking when the rat infestation came into my house.

Back to ignoring your worthless hide.
Again, the double standard! "We don't need to give you a counter-proposal for your failed policies" was all the rage during the Iraq war. Now that the shoe is on the other foot,
We always had an alternative plane.

We said we needed more troops from the start, Cheney and Rumsfeld scoffed at it.

They said instead of a surge, put more responsibility on the Iraqis and negotiate with the tribesmen causing all hte problems instead of trying to make this a military only solution.

    Don't re-write history Kenny.

"I used an expression. It wasn't meant to be taken literally."

You said it, you mean it, that ends it. Fuck you, anti-America shitbag. You too, dinothefakehomo.

    Regarding the actual topic here, which as usual, the comments veered away from almost immediately, I have an interesting observation to share;

I no longer know any republicans. I used to have a healthy mix of friends and acquaintences of a variety of political persuasions. Having been a professional musician for a couple of decades makes it impossible not to have "met all kinds"...So the list of folks I know and are friends with run the gamut, from Che/Hugo worshippers to the staunchest bitter clingers.

...But since a time before the last presidential election, I lost all my republican friends and acquaintences. No, no, the people are still around, they've simply dropped the 'R' from their political regimen. Not only is the demarkation unnecessary, it's a misnomer.

I think that's a great sign. I think that the republican party can successfully be eviscerated and rendered "3rd" party status to "obscure" party status in little or no time. What use is there for a political entity that actually represents NO ONE?

I've never affiliated. I'm not a follower, rather an American individual who believes wholeheartedly in the literal documentation of the American Constitution, the concept of equal opportunity over that of equal result, and self determination. I don't care what people want to call it, a label changes nothing.

It seems that my attitude is beginning to appeal to more and more conservatives, because ALL of the republicans I used to know, even the hardcore guys, have given the party it's last chance, and the party failed. You don't have to wait for a corpse to cool to know it's dead...

Democrats, on the other hand, still befuddle me. They have the Massa's cock halfway up their asses and yet insist that the other guy is the one getting fucked...Collectivists will never go away, for the obvious lazy somethingfornothing reasons, and they seem to have found the perfect home in the party of The Circus Tent.

I personally would love to see all political parties abolished, but the necessity to "herd up" is just too strong yet...
