Say Anything: Attention North Dakota Readers/Hostfest Attendees

sounds like a great time, but I'm not going to be anywhere in the vicinity. Have a work related retirement party to go to on Sat and with gas where it is...

If there ends up being a specific date and meeting place when a bunch of bloggers are getting together, I'd be interested. It'd be fun to meet other bloggers.

    Ed, sorry to hear it.

Julie, spread the word and I'll see if something can be put together.

I'll only be there in spirit. Regretfully, I still have one of those "regular job" things, and I don't want to make them mad, yet. I'm not taking the last of my vacation time until the week after. I guess I scheduled it a week too late.

I'm not going because I'm prejudiced against Norwegians. You can imagine my shame when I found out that my brothers and sisters were all part Norwegian themselves.

[...] I just bought another domain and built another site, today. I’m still working on things, so I’m not going to say what it is, yet, but I got the idea after reading Rob’s post about meeting in Minot, ND. [...]

    I'll be driving beet truck.

Whistler, you can't call them Norwegian... you might offend them.
  • Rob · 4 years ago
    Yes, we prefer Scandanavian Americans.

Anyway, sounds like most people aren't interested. We should get a ND meeting together though. It'd be fun.

Maybe around the time of the state fair...

Or, I guess I could travel out of Minot to somewhere else.

[...] I've always envied other bloggers who talk about their blogger gatherings. Prior to the event, each blog talks about the place they'll be meeting, past get-togethers, and I just sit and grump. Then the follow-up posts have photos of everyone having a great time discussing whatever it is they discuss at these things.I wouldn't know.Rob Port is trying to set up something for North Dakota bloggers at the Norsk Hostfest in Minot, but the two problems I see is, first of all, that the event is nearly upon us and doesn't really allow for people with real jobs (unlike me, who rarely has a scheduling problem) to make it work, and secondly, the Hostfest kind of scares me. Norwegians and country music, two things not of me. At all. In fact, I take pride in having no Scandinavian ancestry in a state full of it. The Irishfest never took off because all 40 of us couldn't find anyone but lefse and rosemaling vendors to come. Now would be the obvious great time for an Oktoberfest for the Germans. There probably is one or two going on somewhere here in North Dakota, but it's the Hostfest that dominates the state. But back to meeting other North Dakota bloggers. In the past, I've been invited by David to attend Montana's blogger meetup, and though I have yet to take them up on the offer, I may. It feels like cheating, though, because I'm not from Montana. Minnesota would be a closer drive anyway, but Minnesota blogging is dominated by Powerline and Lileks and other Big Boy bloggers way out of my league. I don't actually want to meet them because I wouldn't have a thing to say except "um" and its variations.I would like to sit down with other bloggers but I don't think it's ever going to happen. There has to be more North Dakota bloggers since I started in 2002, but I just don't know who all of them are. And from the looks of the comments on Rob's post (two, if you want to know, one of which is mine) things aren't looking up for a blog meetup here in ND. posted by Julie on 1:43 PM | link | (4) comments | Links to this post    [...]
