I'm not a big fan of Coulter's, but seriously Don, give me a break. If you can't tell that the paragraph singled out by Dave is written as sarcasm, then you're an idiot.

The rest of the column is actually a pretty articulate piece about why the NSA spy controversy shouldn't be a controversy after all.

Miss Coulter and Dick Morris (an acknowledged toe expert) will be producing the training videos.

"dropping daisy cutters wantonly throughout the Middle East"
is to assure that our troops will be met by populations throwing flowers. The previous lack of daisy cutters forced the population to shower the troops with orange soda.

"sending liberals to Guantanamo."
is Ms. Coulters belief in a limited reopening of American/Cuban tourism.

Doc, on Say Anything I've extended an invitation to all comers to submit posts for publish. Dave submitted this, and I published it. Yes, Dave is taking Coulter out of context. She was being humorous, but I subscribe to the "give 'em enough rope" approach. Dave now looks pretty stupid as he's been called out for some selective quotation.

I typically refer to Coulter as a "shrill harpy", but that sure does sound like she's maybe not quite entirely serious, in context.

Maybe it's a joke in bad taste, but it still obviously appears to be an attempt at humor, in my reading.

I mean, she also says "Among the things that war entails are: killing people (sometimes innocent), destroying buildings (sometimes innocent) and spying on people (sometimes innocent).

That is why war is a bad thing. But once a war starts, it is going to be finished one way or another, and I have a preference for it coming out one way rather than the other."

I don't see how both of those blocks of text (the one I quoted, and the one this post is based on) can be serious, and the former's hyperbole makes my judgment as to which is un-serious univocal.

Well, I find Ann to be pretty humorous but I certainly find anything humorous about Jesse Jackson. As far as a humorist on the left side, well...help me out here I can't think of anybody.

The only thing I find offensive in this is people calling jesse "Reverend". He has never graduated from ANY seminary, not ever. Not to mention the minor fact of 9 illegitimate children by 5 women. He is a con artist and extortionist, and that is all he will ever be.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Jackson Jesse whose real name is Jesse Louis Burns "did not finish his divinity studies at the time, but was awarded a Master of Divinity in 2000 based on those studies and life experience" which means that the degree is more honorary that scholastic.

As far as illegitimate children, Wikipedia only says that Jesse "had an affair with a young staffer, Karin Stanford, that resulted in the birth of his daughter Ashley".

Yes, sir, a fine outstanding fellow is our boy Jesse.

He recieved an honorary ordination, and he does have 9 illegitimate children by 5 women. A fact he has had to admit before a judge in the early '90s when he was required to pay for the college education of one of them. Hopefully she majored in something other than political science.

You've repeated this lie before. I've already pointed out that Rev. Jackson was ordained as a Baptist minister on 30 June 1968, altho' didn't finish his studies at Chicago Theological Semminary until 2000.

Look it up.

Quite right, Rev. Jackson did father one child with one woman not his wife (I find the term "illegitimate" really offensive---a baby born out of wedlock is just as real, just as legitimate as one born to parents who filled out the paperwork).

In 2s world "1 baby with 1 woman" is the same thing as "9 babies with 5 women."

Perhaps if the GOP stopped tryng to teach Bible stories in science class, we'd have better math skills, n'est pas?

Partially true: 1-8 out of wedlock children by 1-4 women not his wife. Not true enough: 10 or more out of wedlock children by 6 or more women not his wife. You see, Don, I respect your feelings about the word "illegitimate" being applied to children. I just wish you cared as much for the feelings of the children born to such a phony and a scoundrel as Jessee (Burns) Jackson, and for the feelings of the 50+ million unborn children slaughtered in the name of your philosophy. He sat on the stand and admitted to having fathered 9 children with 5 women. He accepted financial responsebility for the education of one. The others subsequently refused to be involved with him in any way. Go to the archives at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and check. Also the Gadsden Times did quite a bit of coverage on this. Also the newspaper in Montgomery covered it,can't remember their name, their take being poor jesse was being unduly attacked. And also, the Times-Picayune had several articles on the subject, at that time jesse was being sued for not putting up the financial share he had contracted to in a business deal in LA. Something to do with black owned companies needing start-up money. This was the issue that began the split between jesse and Hose Williams, the city councilman from southside Atlanta. Seems he did not think jesse had the moral wherewithal to be the leader of the rainbow coalition, something like that. I was saddened to hear Hose had died, he was an honest man, if a bit flighty and sensationalistic.
