Say Anything: 41 Murders In One Weekend Just Across The Border

  • Bat One · 1 year ago
41 killings, huh? That makes Mexico worse than Iraq!
  • SPARKIE ARBUCKLE · 1 year ago
We should get a border wall because there are murderers in Mexico? Is this the newest in a series of rationalizations? Trying out the multi-rationalization that worked so well for Iraq?

Oh my god. Oh no! Protect me!
  • SPARKIE ARBUCKLE · 1 year ago
So maybe we should build a border around Memphis and Philly? Considering all the murdering?

No, its from all the meth-addicted rural folk out in Wyoming, Montana, and ND. Also, if you don't think parties benefit from those drug wars stateside, you're foolish. One cannot just blame Mexico.
  • realitybasedbob · 1 year ago
That kind of reasoning should have our southern neighbors building a fence to keep the Americans out.
How many murders committed per day in US?
This is incredible, and it is happening right across their border.

Illegal immigration is not the biggest reason we need a fence, it's one of many. Reducing the amount of drugs on our streets and reducing human trafficking are the two biggest reasons for the need. Philly and Memphis are American cities, not quite apples to apples. Your need to be a voice of dissent clouds your rationale.
So maybe we should build a border around Memphis and Philly?
Reductio ad absurdum. Would that be misquoting your eloquent (read: nonsensical) words, Sparkie?
Your need to be a voice of dissent clouds your rationale.
Sorry, I know you and ROB prefer which ever ratinale suits your instantaneous, emotional-political needs.
Illegal immigration is not the biggest reason we need a fence, it's one of many. Reducing the amount of drugs on our streets and reducing human trafficking are the two biggest reasons for the need.
Why not try to remove some of the incentives, like practice stricter hiring practices stateside? Its the Mexicans' fault your kids can't take care of themselves and avoid using drugs? Talk about a left wing parenting argument! Which way should we fall down this slippery slope? What parenting-type measures should we follow this with? Perhaps your, "need to be a voice of dissent clouds your rationale."

Sparkie, I find it hard to take you or any argument you make seriously when your picture/video is one of the creepiest things I have ever seen. It reminds me of Buffalo Bill from Silence of the lambs.

Returning to the argument at hand; your remarks about putting a fence around Philly and Memphis is ridiculous. We are talking about illegal immigration and all of the perils that come with it.

I'm not worried about my kids taking drugs, they won't, I'm worried about the results of others taking and selling drugs. They are the ones that create the problems, causing issues ranging from murder to habitual unemployment. They are getting a government check, free health care, and when it's not enough to support their habit they resort to violence and crime. If you twist words and make assumptions so absurd as to allude I'm liberal, you have real issues. Stupid name calling aside, drugs are bad, you will at least agree with that and the drain they put on society?

So you feel we should pursue parenting laws because OTHER PEOPLE can't handle their kids? Oh, your rationale is perfectly clear. Its more of the liberal politician rationale than it is the liberal 'mark'.
drugs are bad, you will at least agree with that and the drain they put on society?
I think that the illegal status of marijuana puts a drain, financial and otherwise, on society. I think that meth, for example, should be illegal. I am up in the air on heroin and cocaine. Switzerland legalized heroin in the mid 90s and property crime fell 90%. That's a 'live and let live' positive feedback if you ask my opinion.
about my kids taking drugs, they won't
not the illegal ones, but they can still booze and have countless narcotics, barbituates, and other wonderful things prescribed by any old croaker they want. but those aren't 'drugs'. and we should not be able to sue the 'pharmaceutical' companies who lie about their drugs until a large swath of the country is hooked on them.

but those 'illegal' drugs are a real strain on our society.

    its not cut and dry.

selective parenting is not the solution.
  • JPGR · 1 year ago
How is not wanting my kid to get killed for walking through a mall endorsing a parenting law for others? Although, if you were to legalize heroin you would see a reduction in use because they blow their own brains out(?). Legalizing drugs would probably reduce dealer/trafficking/turf war type crimes, but what about all the people hopped up on drugs? They are still out of their minds and would steal or rob for the cash to buy it. Not pot, I've heard both sides and I'm pretty neutral on that. I've never actually tried it, but it seems it's at least harmless when it comes to violence on others (those Dorito's sure pay though!)

IT'S TIME TO REMOVE ALL THE POLITICIANS THAT PROMOTE PROHIBITION.
HOW MANY MORE LIVES HAVE TO BE NEEDLESSLY DEVASTATED OR LOST?
PROHIBITED DRUGS ARE WAY EASIER FOR KIDS TO GET THAN REGULATED DRUGS!
PROHIBITION NEVER WORKS IT JUST CAUSES CRIME & VIOLENCE.

The USA spends $69 billion a year on the drug war, builds 900 new prison beds and hires 150 more correction officers every two weeks, arrests someone on a drug charge every 17 seconds, jails more people than any nation and has killed over 100,000 citizens in the drug war.

In 1914 when there were NO PROHIBITED DRUGS 1.3% of our population was addicted to drugs, TODAY 1.3% of our population is STILL ADDICTED TO DRUGS BUT THERE'S WAY MORE CRIME AND VIOLENCE BECAUSE OF THE HUGE PROFITS PROHIBITION GENERATES. DRUGS TODAY ARE MORE POTENT, MORE READILY AVAILABLE AND LESS EXPENSIVE THAN THEY WERE IN THE EARLY 70'S WHEN RICHARD NIXON STARTED THE WAR ON DRUGS.

Everyone needs to know about "Jury Nullification". You can learn more here: http://fija.org If you are called for jury duty and you don't agree with the law the person is charged with, you have the right to vote NOT GUILTY, NO MATTER WHAT EVIDENCE IS PRODUCED. Jurors implementing this right in ALL NON-VIOLENT drug cases will shut down the ridiculous laws of prohibition. One juror in each case is all it takes. The bottom line is a juror has the RIGHT to JUDGE not only the accused person but the LAW the person is accused of breaking. Don't be intimidated stick to your position.

There's only been one drug success story in history, tobacco, BY FAR THE MOST DEADLY and one of the MOST ADDICTIVE drugs. Almost half the users quit because of REGULATION, ACCURATE INFORMATION AND MEDICAL TREATMENT. No one went to jail and no one got killed.

DEMAND your Constitutional rights. The right; to freedom of religion, free speech, a free press, to keep and bear arms, to be secure in your person, house, papers and effects against unreasonable search and seizure, to life, liberty and property, to be protected from having your property taken by the government without due process of law and without just compensation, to confront the witnesses against you, to be protected from excessive bail, excessive fines, cruel and unusual punishment, to vote and many others have been denied to millions of Americans in the name of the drug war.

Ask Switzerland. Like I said, when they legalized heroin, they saw a 90% drop in property crime. Period end of sentence. You bring foundationless opinions.
